Paula Santirocco draws on her experience in music to produce art
which reaches out with impact. By
layering acrylic paint and using it as a water medium she gives her
paintings luminous depth and richness.
Color
and texture the inspiration behind her line of jewelry.
All pieces are made with semi-precious stones, colorful minerals,
genuine pearls and
sterling silver.
Paula
played flute in the Cleveland area for over 20 years, as principal flute
with the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, the Cleveland Ballet, the Cleveland
Opera and various touring Broadway shows. During that time she
developed some experimental techniques in copper enameling. Again,
layering the medium, in this case glass, resulted in depth and a variety
of looks in different light or from different angles. Wanting to
make a big statement, she made compound pieces as sculpture and wall
art. Commissions included large wall hangings for above a mantle
and a set of decorative cobalt blue vessels. She is also the
writer of some dozen sonnets and was published in Voices of Cleveland in
1997. Some of her sonnets are included here as part of her gallery
of work.
